Looking back and looking forward in the field of fashion and technology.

The world needs an alternative to the fashion industry as it exists today. That alternative is the field of fashion tech.
Pioneers within the field of fashion and technology are passionate about changing the paradigm of fashion by revolutionizing the way we think about, use and produce fashion. This book is the first to highlight those pioneers: Through presenting fifty projects realised within the last ten years, Unfolding Fashion Tech focuses on those working within the field, their achievements and the cumulative knowledge they have built through research, design and development. Additionally, we brought together the theorists, scientists and designers behind the Dutch wearable technologies field to discuss their different perspectives on the challenges faced by those inside and outside the field. The combination of their perspectives provides a bird’s eye view of the developments that have already been realized, with the aim to anchor current knowledge, contextualise it and to provide room for reflections on these achievements, allowing us to look to the future with optimism.
The future is close. Unfolding Fashion Tech shows what the future of fashion could look like.
