Marina Toeters works for fashion and technical companies and tries to bridges the gap between those branches. This multidisciplinary way of working is still quite new. That’s why it is often hard to communicate together, because they don’t have a shared history and referees. by-wire.net has experiences these difficulties and can move between the groups.

What is happening the coming years? Where do we want to go as society? This is -partly- the responsibility of designers. Which developments can be accepted and embraced by society and which developments do we have to ignore or fight against?
To know what will happen in the world by-wire.net does a continuing trend research of what new products want to communicate to society and which functions they can add too society. The method is semiotics; viewing a lot of images to find the language of these new products and visuals.

In collaboration with the client by-wire.net starts a design process for innovative textile products.
At least once a year by-wire.net initiates a design process to visualize added functions of the latest innovations for our society.

idea & concept generation

The body or user as the center of concept generation for innovative products with added benefits to society. Or starting out of a material, technology of processes.
For example by brainstorm sessions with clients or experimenting with materials to solve certain problems.

prototyping of wearable electronics

In collaboration with our network, by-wire.net is able to make working prototypes of wearble electronics in small circulations. Like wireless vibrating coat reacting on music, programmable light fabric and sensor suits.
Pattern drawing, making of fitting models, sourcing of suitable fabrics and haberdashery, sew / knit / weld or glue the products together.

Wearable electronics and textile products are experiences as very intimate, because they are worn onto the human body. That is why it is very important how companies put them into the market and what you want to communicate with the product. by-wire.net advises marketing, public relation and communication departments how to position their new products.

Marina Toeters educates fashion students in ecology & technology; introducing and applying innovative materials and new processes to our future designers. On the Technical University Eindhoven Marina coaches 8 industrial design students in the Wearable-Senses-theme.
Besides that by-wire.net gives lectures and seminars for client-specific-issues and advises designers interested in material and process innovation.
